China Mobile is a Chinese state-owned telecommunication company that provides mobile voice and multimedia services through its nationwide mobile telecommunications network, the largest of its kind in the world. Listed on both the NYSE and the Hong Kong stock exchange, it is the most valuable mobile telecommunications company in the world. As of March 2011, China Mobile is the world's largest mobile phone operator with over 600 million subscribers.

Artiza’s LTE eNB Tester DuoSIM and EPC Tester have won TD-LTE/SAE load testers competition at China Mobile Communication Corporation (CMCC) held in fall 2011. CMCC will extensively use Artiza’s LTE Testers to perform load testing on TD-LTE/SAE equipments provided by multi Chinese/international vendors. CMCC strongly recognizes load testing as one of the most important testing methodologies to evaluate LTE equipments, which cover its nationwide high population cities with broadband data traffic expected growing rapidly in the coming years.

LTE eNB development at ZTE has been driven by Artiza's LTE eNB Testers since 2011. ZTE's final criteria for shipping a file set is determined by the benchmarks for hundreds of test conditions provided by Artiza LTE eNB Testers. Artiza's solution has been successfully accelerating time to market and contributing to decrease CAPEX and OPEX for ZTE's LTE products.

NTT docomo is a world-leading mobile operator that is in transition into an Integrated Service Company placing mobility at the core. The company serves over 59 million customers in Japan via advanced wireless networks, including a nationwide 3G network and one of the world’s first commercial 3G/LTE networks. Leveraging its unique capabilities as a mobile operator, NTT docomo is a leading developer of cutting-edge technologies for NFC mobile payments, mobile GPS, mobile TV, intuitive mobile assistance, environmental monitoring, smart grids and much more. Overseas, the company provides technical and operational expertise to eight mobile operators and other partner companies.

DuoSIM Experiences
Artiza LTE Tester DuoSIM further enhances NTT docomo's activities for network reliability evaluation with its smaller footprint, lower power consumption, and higher cost performance. NTT docomo has been planning to develop multiple models of LTE eNBs according to location, cell size, and number of users. Artiza's DuoSIM becomes the cornerstone that sets the quality standards of NTT docomo's comprehensive LTE eNB developments by its flexible functionalities and performance. NTT docomo is currently using multiple installations of DuoSIM-840 x 2 for 6-sector macro LTE eNB testing, as shown in Figure 5.

First Generation Product Experiences
NTT docomo has been introducing a number of Artiza LTE eNB Testers in the R&D center since 2009. LTE eNB wrap-around test bed for macro cell (5,040 UEs in 6 sectors of one E-UTRAN cell, shown in Figure 6) is regularly used as the ultimate testing environment in docomo. For each eNB vendor, an independent test bed was set up to finalize every release of the product file set.
Test engineers in the sites are quite satisfied with the Artiza's products functionalities, performance, and quality. And they don't believe any other tester vendors can even come close to developing the same level of quality products.

NEC has been collaborating with Artiza Networks for LTE eNB development since September 2009. The development has been running smoothly with the Artiza products, not only by its flexibility but also by the responsiveness of their support team. Immediate feedback to enable additional features on their testers has greatly helped their engineers in the development process.

Fujitsu Logo

Fujitsu is a leading provider of information and communication technology (ICT)-based business solutions for the global marketplace. With approximately 170,000 employees supporting customers in over 100 countries, Fujitsu combines a worldwide corps of systems and services experts with highly reliable computing and communications products and advanced microelectronics to deliver added value to customers.

Fujitsu has been using Artiza’s LTE eNB Testers to perform load testing on LTE eNB since 2009. Its LTE eNBs are deployed by NTT docomo's nationwide commercial LTE service “Xi”, started from the end of 2010. Artiza’s LTE eNB Testers are used in Fujitsu's lab to test macro-cell eNB with the maximum configuration of 840 UEs/sector x 6 sectors, as it was introduced in NTT docomo's lab. The CPRI (Common Public Radio Interface) is used for connection between eNB and Tester for higher test efficiency. Release testing routine that comes up twice a year has been proceeding quite smoothly with Artiza's products.

Airspan Logo

Airspan Networks is a global provider of 4G broadband wireless systems and solutions that deliver high-speed data, voice and multimedia services. Airspan’s products serve operators and vertical markets such as smart utilities, transportation and public safety around the world in both licensed and unlicensed frequency bands covering from 700 MHz up to 6 GHz. Its products have been deployed in over 100 countries by 500 operators, 100 of which use Airspan’s 4G products.

Airspan has been using Artiza’s LTE Tester DuoSIM to perform load testing on LTE equipment, including its leading AirSynergy (Figure 9) 4G LTE eNB broadband wireless infrastructure products. At Airspan, Artiza LTE Tester is primarily used on evaluating Airspan's eNB radio resource management over a multi-UE environment with mobility.

WCP Logo

Wireless City Planning Inc. is a Softbank's group company and operates a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system in 2.5 GHz band in Japan. The BWA system introduced by Wireless City Planning is "eXtended Global Platform (XGP)", one of the BWA systems recommended in the ITU-R Recommendation M.1801 and had been originally developed with the latest OFDMA/TDD technologies and standardized by "XGP Forum" and "Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB)", a Standards Development Organization (SDO) in Japan.

Wireless City Planning (WCP) has been using Artiza’s LTE eNB Testers to perform load testing on AXGP (compatible wireless access technology with TD-LTE) equipments provided by multi international vendors since spring 2011. WCP will keep updating their AXGP services with major/minor enhancements few times in a year. Artiza’s LTE eNB Tester will be used regularly upon every release for evaluating new functionalities and regression testing. WCP's lab engineers are quite satisfied with the Artiza's products and services, and they don't believe any other tester vendors can even come close to providing the same benefits to WCP.

KDDI is a ubiquitous company that has over 56 years of proven track record since its establishment in 1953. KDDI has progress into a global business empire spanning as far as North & South America, Asia, Europe, Middle East, India, and Africa covering more than 47 cities and 23 countries to support its customer’s business overseas by providing integrated solution bundling Data Centre and colocations, ICT integration, network design and engineering, and O&M.

KDDI has been using Artiza’s EPC Testers to evaluate EPCs (MME/P-GW/S-GW) since 2010 in the test lab. There are many kinds of nodes and many protocols in LTE core network as shown in Figure 11. Artiza test team has finalized hundreds of test sequences with wrap-around and MME/P-GW/S-GW combined configurations.

Artiza testing team is now on global tour for Interoperability Testing (IOT) with major LTE operators and eNB vendors. The IOT status is shown in Table 1.
